Romantic Rainy-Day Elopement in Lauterbrunnen and Interlaken, Switzerland

There’s something timeless about the mountains in the rain; soft mist drifting through the valley, the rhythm of raindrops, and the feeling that the world has slowed down just for you. E+E’s elopement in Lauterbrunnen and Interlaken, Switzerland was a perfect reminder that even a rainy day can turn into something truly magical.

The morning began high above the valley at the Grand Hotel Belvedere in Wengen, where E+E got ready surrounded by sweeping mountain views. The atmosphere was calm, romantic, and full of anticipation — the perfect beginning to their Swiss Alps elopement. They shared a first look in the beautiful grounds of the hotel.

With expert coordination by Weddings by Loukia, every detail flowed seamlessly despite the shifting mountain weather. Loukia ensured that the day stayed relaxed and joyful, allowing E+E to fully embrace every moment. Their laughter, their ease, and the way they leaned into the rain made the day even more special.

After a first look, we traveled down to Lauterbrunnen, where the famous cliffs and waterfalls stood shrouded in soft mist. The rain created a romantic, cinematic backdrop — every frame felt like a scene from a storybook. Their portraits among the waterfalls and alpine meadows captured everything I love about photographing elopements in the Swiss Alps: connection, emotion, and the wild beauty of nature.

As the afternoon light faded, we continued toward Interlaken, to take a few more images on the beautiful lake. The soft rain meant we had the whole place to ourselves.

E+E’s Lauterbrunnen and Interlaken elopement was a beautiful reminder that true romance is about being present, embracing the unexpected, and celebrating love exactly as it is.
